The Zai Clan and The Hensen no Me

The Zai clans kekki genkai is known as the Hensen no me, or the eyes of change. This technique was created at a time of strife and war. Its purpose was to evolve with every generation to suit the needs of the battle at that time. The evolution was controlled through a mixture of mental and physical stimuli, this gave the heads of the clan the ability to control the outcome and abilities of the eye technique. For example if the enemy was growing in speed the children of the clan would be conditioned so that there generation of Hensen would allow them to more clearly track the movements of there enemies and allow them the speed to react accordingly. This blood line trait allowed maximum battle efficiency and was only limited to the amount of children being born at a certain time, for once the evolution of the eye begins down a certain path it cannot be altered. So say, if the enemy suddenly shifted from speed orientation to a more stealthily approach the eyes of the current generation would become useless and the next group of untrained children would be conditioned to have an eye that would see through the stealth of the foe.

As time went on the village elders began to realize how dangerous this eye technique could be, as well as time consuming to achieve results, and barred the family from continuing its use. The war eventually ended and fewer and fewer of the families members were born with the eyes.
Once or twice every few generations a child would be born with the ability to use the eyes, but this often ended badly because of the fact that most of the knowledge concerning it has been lost. This often leads the eye to evolve into something useless or uncontrollable due to lack of proper conditioning. More often than not it is not even noticed by the child born with it and simply evolves in to a variant that is hardly noticeable and fitted to the individuals everyday life.

The clan now lives a normal life, a few children here and there attending the academy, for the most part living normal lives. It is very rare that a child will be born with the Hensen no me and even rarer that it will evolve into a truly great ability.
