• Appearance: Ken stands about 6’3” tall and is very thin, underneath all of his baggy clothing that is. He wears worn leather boots that extend half way up his calf, though most of them are hidden under his very loose fitting ripped and worn grey jeans. His upper torso is clothed in a worn and dirty sleeveless turtleneck, it is very loose fitting as well the actual turtleneck loose and folded over below his neck. Over this he wears a very baggy black robe, the sleeves extending past his arms, with a pattern of a dead and gray cherry tree on the back. When it is exposed people see his dark sun tanned skin that is covered in many pink scars, trophies of battles and habits past. His face is very angular but is often obscured by the wide brimmed straw hat he wears that serves to through his features into shadow. His eyes are dull blue and often unfocused, a side effect of some of his favorite vices. His mouth is covered by a mask constructed of black fabric and a metallic alloy and covers all of his lower face up to the bridge of his nose. A metallic piece of tubing comes out of the mask from the bottom and runs under his clothing to a small metal case, about the size of a small book, hung on his belt. This apparatus serves to administer a constant feed of his favorite inhalant. His body is very loose, his arms often dangling at his side. He seldom stands up straight, either hunching forward or leaning backwards. He has a very dry, hollow sounding, voice like the sound of a breeze moving through a dry baked corn field

• Personality: Ken Zai is a monster in every sense of the word. His main goal in life being to experience every possible high there can be, one of his favorites being the exhilaration of murder. He must constantly seek out more and more extreme ways to feel anything, due the effects of the massive amounts of drugs and other substances constantly fed into his system. He especially enjoys pain and fear, even his own, which he believes is the only thing that can bring out a persons true self. He views both with equal parts wonder and curiosity. He is not a very serious man, he claims why be high if your going to spend the whole time being so hard. He views battle and life as a game to see who can make the other feel the most pain first, so he doesn’t take either very seriously. He is constantly fed a powerful inhalant of his own devising through the mask he wears. This drug dulls the pain receptors as well as speeding up response time, thus giving him abnormally swift reflexes. The only drawback to this drug is the fact that it becomes very hard for him to tell when he has been badly wounded. It is also very highly addictive, withdrawal brings on massive amounts of sudden crippling pain.
  
• Background: Ken Zai is the seventh son of the Zai family. Very little is know of him, but what is know is a very sad story indeed. He was one of the two brothers to be gifted with his families, now rare, eye technique, although no one was aware of it at the time. Ken was often abused by this brothers and their uncle Nero, who was a drunk and a scoundrel. The young man grew up knowing nothing but fear. This would eventually “condition” him to put an end to the suffering caused to him by his family, as well as his family. The only thing that got him through these hard times was his personal mantra. He would always tell himself that one day they would all fear as he had feared and suffer as he had suffered. He killed them all on the day of his completion of the Chunnin exams. His whole life he was told he was nothing. Once free of his tormentors he turned to substance abuse to fill the void in his life and eventually became an addict, with a thrill for killing. The drugs constantly made it harder and harder for him to feel anything, so he had to constantly seek out new forms of highs. Fighting became a way of life, one because he enjoyed the pain he found in the heat of battle and two the missions funded his habits. He has become somewhat of a legend among Rouge-ninja because it is said that he is un-killable, that he feels no pain, and every squad sent to retrieve him is found, sometimes months later. The luck ones are dead, the not so lucky ones are reduced to nothing more that babbling lunatics. He now travels from village to village with some yet unknown purpose, a living legend that none truly believes exists. The Scarecrow.

• Weaponry: Ken wields a monstrous clawed gauntlet known as the agonizer. The over sized weapon is custom fitted to his right hand and when not in use hangs on his left hip, hidden under his robes. This horrid device has several wicked features depending on its settings. One such setting causes the tips of the claws to drip with a powerful hallucinogen, or even a potent acid. Another setting charges the kinetic motor built into the base of the weapon. This causes anyone stuck by it to receive a rather debilitating shock that is designed to target the central nervous system and over ride the pain receptors. The practical upshot of which is to cause massive amounts of crippling pain over a period of five seconds. Ken had this weapon specially designed to allow his enemies to suffer in the most exquisite possible ways.
  
• Abilities: Ken Zai was born as one of the lucky members of his clan in the fact that he was born with the rare gift of the Hensen no Me, his families lost eye technique. However, this gift has been a blight upon his entire life. Due to the happenings of his life it has taken on a horrible evolution and is now known to him as the Osore no Me, or the eyes of fear. These eyes have a three fold ability which even Ken himself is afraid to use to it fullest potential because of the adverse effects it has had on his life. The various stages are known as the whispers of fear, or simply whispers, because of the way the subtlety coax the mind into believing what is happening is real which in some ways it is. There are three levels of the technique each one drawing on the fears of the target to achieve a certain goal.
  
  
  Whisper Level 1: In this stage the pupils of the user glow a faint eerie green and the irises darken slightly. The user cans insight into the targets mind and is able to see what it is they truly fear
  This is usually used in combination with powerful Genjutsu.
  
  Whisper Level 2: In this stage the pupils glow more brightly as the irises grow completely blackened and appear as a black ring of flame. This stage of the technique sends whoever makes eye
  contact with the user into a fit of uncontrollable paralyzing fear. Their deaths appear before their eyes in whichever manner would seem the most horrifying at the time.
  The first documented case of this left the victim a babbling lunatic, apparently afraid of a demon scarecrow killing them. This was when Ken earned his
  nickname.
  
  Whisper Level 3: In this stage the entire eye is consumed by the eerie green glow that casts the users face into shadow. This is the last and most powerful level of the Osore no Me, and it is a most
  horrifying ability indeed. It allows the user to manifest all of the fears of the target and gives reality to them. While not truly real, the targets mind completely believes in
  them. The mind will then give the illusion power over the body, allowing it to cause actual physical harm. To the onlooker it appears as though the target is battling
  nothing, but to their shock wounds will begin to manifest seemingly from nowhere. As this is not an actual Genjutsu it is nearly impossible to escape from until the victim
  is released by the user. Even after that occurs the mind of the victim is left in tatters, unable to cope with the reality of its fears.
