"Arigato gozaimasu, Hana-san. And, did you just say that man is the Niwakage?" Shii-chan asked as she examined the figure. He was a lean and fairly young man donning hair with a silver like the stars and a rich kimono. He wasn't anything like the genin had expected.
"No way~. I thought he was going to be a wrinkly, senile old man who does nothing but stare at the flowers all day. At least I hope you're not, but that hair still makes me bit doubtful. You aren't a senile old man who does nothing all day in disguise are you?" She questioned, eying him in a suspicious, yet playful manner.

He seems friendly enough...

Yatsuuko shook his hand to Hana and replied, "Well, I didn't want to just leave you behind and not see you for a week. I'd have felt so terrible..." He gave a toothy grin and dropped his hand. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Hanazawa", he gave a polite bow and smiled again.

At the comment of how she pictured him, he gave a confused look.
"Well, I'm definitely not old and senile, but I do spend time looking at flowers most of the time..." He shrugged and saw the hawk above him. "Ah, that reminds me..." He looked back to Hanazawa and Hana and said, "Hana, I've got to get back to the office. I can assume you know how to get out of here..." "He gave a quick wave and bow and turned his heel toward the exit of Kochou Gardens.

A tall man stepped into the main entrance of Kochou Gardens. He was thin, very gaunt, and very young-looking. His short-cut black hair didn't move at all in the breeze of the night. He was one of the Niwakage's more personally-assigned ninja for reconnaissance because of his vast knowledge of jutsu useful for spying. He looked ahead of him. Immediately, it had forked. He shrugged and brought his hands to the form of an addition symbol. "Kage Bunshin!" An exact clone of him stood by him and they both headed in opposite directions. This would continue until he eventually came across Hana.

Soon after the kage headed out of the path and toward the maze's exit, Hana made her way toward the opposite direction, leading Jishin to the center's gazebo. Usually, the blue-haired chuunin would take her time going through the labyrinths, as to not miss a turn and get lost, but Hana was in a very slight rush since Yatsuuko had gone back to his office without taking his packed lunch with him.

As expected, Hana made a wrong turn at one of the forks and, of course, got a little lost. Luckily for the two girls, they had eventually found their way to the gazebo after a series of "I thought it was this way? No, that way for sure! No wait! Over here!"

"Ah... Gomen nasai, Hanazawa-san." Hana said as she rubbed the back of her head. "I should have been paying a little more attention to the surroundings. Once you're done your business here, I promise to try to not get us lost again. You see, I don't know this whole maze very well yet, so if I accidentally wander off into one of the side routes, I won't exactly find my way out as easily as I anticipated."

"If you don't mind me calling you Hana-san, sempai, then please just call me Shii-chan!"
The Hanazawa girl looked around the gazebo and spotted it. It was a little worn out teddy-bear that belonged to the child who assigned her the 'mission'. She carefully picked it up and inspected it to make sure it wasn't a trap. It was deemed safe.
"It's alright, it's a maze after all. It was designed to get us lost. This time I'll just use my scouter technique to get us out."
Jishin plucked two leaves from a wall of the maze and formed a few hand signs while twisting them together into the shape of a butterfly.
"Ha Uka no Jutsu!" (Technique of the Flying Leaf.)
The leaves that were tied together just moments ago flashed a brilliant green and began to move. Its 'wings' started to flutter. As it gained enough air pressure to keep it afloat, the butterfly drifted high above the girls. But still visible. It returned to Hana and Shii quickly, and made motions for the two to follow.
"We'll be out in no time with my patented technique! I didn't want to use it earlier since it would have been a waste of chakra, but I suppose now is better than any other, right?"

After a while, the ninja had come across many failed paths and got rid of the clone standing there. He then finally came across the pair of girls, though the one to find them was one of his Bunshin. The others immediately vanished in a cloud of smoke, while he headed in the direction of the entrance of the maze.

The clone approached the two and said aloud, "Hey, Hana! Who's this friend of yours?" He shook his head and changed his sentence, "Nevermind that, I've been given orders by Niwakage-sama to retrieve you. If you'd follow me out of here, we can get there as soon as possible." He looked at the girl seriously for a bit, then turned to start heading back the way he came, just slow enough for her to catch up. "Bring your friend if you'd like. It's late, anyway."

Hana watched the girl curiously as she performed the so called scouting techniques. It appeared that it require a leaf or two, along with a few hand seals. Within a few seconds, the leaves rose out of Jishin's hands, and moved about the air as if it were really a living butterfly. The chuunin watched the flying leaf before turning her attention back to the genin.

"Wow, that's a very useful technique, and cute too." Hana said with a smile. Before long, a male approached them. In fact, the young blue-haired girl recognized him as the Niwakage's personally assigned shinobi. He was sent into the maze to find the girls.

"Ah! No one had to go through the trouble of finding me. We were about to find our way out also, thanks to Shi-chan." She looked over to Jishin with a smile on her face, before looking back to the male shinobi. "But thanks for find us!" She bowed her head before she began to follow the man, motioning her new friend to come along.

Shii-chan pouted at the sight of the newly-arrived shinobi. In the end she still wasted chakra when she avoided doing so for so long. If there were forces driving destiny, then apparently it liked to toy with her. The girl didn't even get a chance to use the technique.

Well, can't do much about it now...

She bowed to show her respect to the higher-ranked shinobi and greeted him with a smile and a, "Hajimemashite*. Yorokshiku onegai shimasu**!" Then followed the two with stuffed animal in tow to the entrance of the gardens.

Hajimemashite- Phrase used to greet new people, it generally translates to "It's nice to meet you"

Yoroshiku onegai shimasu- "Please take care of me" or "I look forward to working with you". Can be shortened to just 'yoroshiku', but adding the 'onegai shimasu' is more respectful

He looked at them before continuing. As soon as they were out of the maze, the trip would be much easier on his chakra. He mentioned as he walked, "We'll have to get to the entrance rather quickly; the Niwakage would like us to arrive in the shortest possible time." The moon was rising even higher into the night sky by now and visibility was nearing that of the mind making-up images in the darkness.

When the small group of three had finally gotten back to the entrance of the Kouchou Garden maze there was no one around. It was hard to make out but the daughter of Hanazawa managed to find her commissioner. It was a small boy, most likely at eight years of age. He was asleep with knees tucked in on a bench in front of the entrance to the leafy maze.
Had he waited all day there for me to come back?
Shii-chan couldn't hold back her amused smile after thinking that. Before continuing on with Hana and their retriever, she placed the stuffed animal as gently as possible under his arm. As she did so, a small pouch fell from the boy's hand. She picked it up, loosened the strings that tightened it's opening and pulled out a shiny 100 Ryou coin.
Softly, the pale green haired girl said, "I have retrieved and delivered the item upon your request and accept your payment. With this our contract is complete."
The young teen returned quietly back to the other two with haste.

As the trio traveled through the labyrinth, Hana could not help but notice the color of the sky. It was getting darker, and the sun was disappearing in the west. How long was she and Jishin wandering around in the maze? They did not get too lost, did they? The blue-haired chuunin sighed. She should really try to explore the maze more to learn where all the trails lead to.

Sighing, the Koubashii teen looked down at the small picnic basket she held loosely in her hands. If she was gone for so long, the Niwakage's lunch should be cold by now. If she were lucky, the tea could still be at room temperature. Hana wondered if the Niwakage liked cold food and beverages.

They eventually found their way out of the maze in record time. While Jishin wandered off to another area of the park, Hana looked up at the jounin that had escorted them out of the confusing labyrinth to speak to him.

"Erm... Excuse me... Would you happen to know why Niwakage-sama wants us at his office as soon as possible?" she asked. "Might there be an emergency mission or something?"

The jounin looked over to Hana and shrugged. "I wasn't given the specifics. He just told me to retrieve you." He turned back to the direction of the Kage's tower, adding, "However there was one other Kadan-nin with the Niwakage, so you could assume it has something to do with him." Shrugging once more and watching as the other had rejoined the group, he sped up on his pace, trying to get there sooner. With the two following close behind and the sun dropping ever farther beyond the horizon, he felt it was imperative to arrive at the structure and "deliver" Hana - her friend, he wasn't so sure as to what to do.

"Another Kadan-nin? I wonder who that could be..." Hana wondered to herself out loud. The blue-haired konoichi looked up to find herself falling behind as her retriever sped up his face. She almost had to start jogging in order to keep up with him until they got to the Niwakage's office.
