"Loosen up, you looked like I was going to douse you in an oil-fueled fire. Sorry if I suprised you earlier. That was all that I was taught since I don't know any medic nin abilities, nor am I one."
Shugo heard Minato, but like his teammate, guessed that he was probably rolling around somewhere.
"Since we're here, why don't we watch the sun setting? We can take our time meeting up with the others. From what I can tell, Minazuki-chan will keep Otikaru-kun occupied for awhile with her appetite. By the time the sun finishes its trek down the horizon Minato-kun would probably pop up too. So how about it, Sayuri-hime?"

Sayuri nodded what Shugo's first reply. Now that she thinks about it, what he did to her wound just a few moments ago did make a little more sense now, but the konoichi felt bad for using the boy's possibly new scarf as a makeshift bandage. She will just have to get the bloodstains out when she gets back home, and make sure that the piece of clothing is returned to him.

As he suggested watching the sunset, the red-head looked toward the horizon, looking at the darkened sun. It was the only time of the day where people could enjoy the sight of the sun without going completely blind. The evening was the most colorful time of the day. Aside from the sun, the sky would be a mix of dark and warm colors, such as blue, orange, red, and just about every color on the rainbow. Now should Sayuri stay here or go get something to eat?

Despite not having eaten for practically the whole day, Sayuri decided to stay and enjoy the current setting. She also recalled back to a few days ago, when she finally met the Nisshoukage's nephew face to face. She remembered saying that she should come by here more often to watch the sunrises or sunsets, so why not enjoy it right here and now with good friends around? Besides, Shugo just mentioned something about Minazuki being with Otikaru. Sayuri would rather stay at the hills and starve than going out to a restaurant with someone who just insulted her brother.

"Despite me wanting to go out to eat first, staying here doesn't sound bad at all. After all, it isn't very often that friends just happen to come by when I'm here by myself." The red-head smiled as she plopped herself down on the ground, which was a perfect spot on the hill to view the scene before them. "Besides, I really don't wanna cause anymore trouble with Minazuki. I think the training grounds have already suffered enough."

"I see you've been taken care of." Karu said casually as he walked up the edge of the hill they were on running his hand through his hair as a short gust ran by him. "I'd have come by right away, but I thought I'd offer lunch to everyone." He said sitting down next to his partner. "How are you feeling?"

"Ah, you're late! well I suppose we are too for not meeting up at the diner. Just wanted to catch the rest of the sunset." Shugo said, turning his attention to Otikaru's direction. The Kage's nephew got to his feet from where he sat stretched a bit, inhaling the scents in the wind as he did so. He felt very relaxed; after all it was a very eventful day for his first day out after his sudden illness. However, night was quickly falling upon the four. He'd have to report back to his aunt soon, then train to make up for lost time while sick and with this group. The genin also had to make amends with Minazuki and Ran for not meeting with them as promised. One of the hardest things for him to do was to break a promise. Now that Otikaru was here, he was free to be alone with his own devices.

Shugo thought about his decision and what he planned to do later. The boy simply announced, "It's getting late, I'd have to get going before ending up dumped into a tub of scalding water by someone I know. I'll see you two later!" and left.

With Shugo, Sayuri watched as the great auburn orb slowly descended down the horizon. At this time of the winter evening, it would be silent, with the exception of the bitter cold winds sending chills throughout one's body. The red-head continued to watch the scene before her, that is, until she heard footsteps getting louder as someone neared.

At first, the konoichi thought it would be Minato, climbing up the hill after he possibly rolled down, but Sayuri was proved wrong once she turned her head and spotted the spiky-haired brunette. Where on earth is Minato? Well, that did not matter now. Usually, the clumsy boy would turn up sooner or later.

Otikaru had spoken to Sayuri, but not before Shugo had to get up and leave. She waved good bye to him as the stony-eyed genin made his way down the hill before disappearing. It was then that the red-head looked back at Otikaru.

"My shoulder feels fine now. Shugo took care of it so I don't have to get my dad to treat it." Sayuri finally replied. When Otikaru had asked how she felt, he could have either meant the injury, or her actual emotions. The red-head, of course, answered with how she felt physically.

"That's good." He said giving Shugo a wave as he walked away. He looked down at his team mate for a second before he moved a bit closer and sat down by her. "I hope you came here to think about the good times." He said staring out at the horizon as if he were trying to find something, adjusting his position so that his feet were stretched out in front of him, while he leaned back resting his weight on his arms.

Sayuri was sitting crossed-legged, with her arms resting across her thighs and calves. She was slouching slightly as she turned away from her team mate and turned her attention of the darkening horizon.

"What else would I come here for?" she replied with a softer voice than usual. Her eyes softened as she stared at the sunset, and shifted so she was hugging her knees with her chin resting on them. It was silent between the two for a moment, which seemed very long. Finally, the red-head broke the silence.

"I really thought... That I would be able to beat her, Karu..."

Karu waited a moment before he sat up and put his arm around the red heads shoulder. "I thought you could to Sayuri." He said in a caring voice. "I'm sorry I didn't stop it before you got hurt though... I was hoping to end it before something happened to either of you"

He sat there quietly for a few moments letting the night slowly fall over them. "He'd be impressed you know, even if you lost."

"Yeah..." Sayuri replied as she continued to stare at the now dark horizon. Just sitting here on a hill with complete silence can really make one think about many things, and recall a few memories. The red-head sighed, creating a small cloud in front of her face as she spoke again.

"Hey... Remember that jerk that used to pick on us when we were younger? Minazuki is a lot like him." The "jerk" she was talking about was around Kaiyou's age back then, and lived the make the Academy students' lives miserable. Sayuri was often unable to defend herself from being lifted and possible hung by the shirt collar somewhere because of her very small size. Usually, the boy would never pick on small girls, but the red-head appeared to be male back then.

It was a good thing Kaiyou was around to help. The bully eventually ended up starting a fight with her brother, and of course, Kaiyou was victorious. Minazuki resembled that jerk, but Sayuri was not like her brother. She was quick to anger, and could easily be pinned down if an opponent got to close. Kaiyou was very calm and relaxed, and very skillful with close-combat and mid-ranged attacks. He was never the one to start a fight, and Sayuri kind of went along with Minazuki's challenge.

Sayuri held up the white stone that was attached to a strap around her neck. She looked at it quietly.

Karu let her sit in thought for a moment staring at the horizon. "You know," He said turning his gaze to her. "I don't believe I ever told anyone this, but Kaiyou's the reason for how much I pushed myself growing up, and why I got my father to start teaching me early." He kinda dropped his voice a little. "He's was always the one who watched out for us when we we're kids, I wanted to have that ability, to protect my friends and family." He said closing his eyes sighing a little.

"It's not the same." He said trying to make himself sound a little more cheerful. "But I'm making you a promise Sayuri. As long as I live, breath, and can fight. I'll do everything in my ability to protect you." He said holding her a little tighter. "You're like family to me, so was Kaiyou. I owe it to both of you to do that."

Sayuri listened to Otikaru as he spoke of protecting her as long as he lived, breathed, and was able to fight. Those words reminded the red-head of what her brother once told her. In fact, they were almost the same exact words. She smiled at the promise Otikaru had made.

"Thanks Karu, that means a lot..." she replied. She unconsciously rested her head at the side of her team mate's chest. It was getting a little late, and Sayuri felt a bit tired. "I'll do the same too. I'll try to grow stronger so whatever happened to Kaiyou won't happen to me, and I'll always be around to help you and Minato out."

"And we'll be right by your side helping you, and each other." He said smiling a little. "And I think it's about time we get you home." He said looking at the sky. "It's getting a bit late, and I'm sure you're dads gonna be worried." He said looking at her, "And not to mention you must be tired after today."

Minato left Sayuri with Shugo knowing that she would be fine. He did tell them he was going to get medical stuff cause his were worthless but they didn't hear them. He finally came back without knowing Shugo already did helped Sayuri and left. Minato went back to the specific hill after getting lost. He claims that there are too many hills. He spots Karu and Sayuri in the distance when he got close enough and heard a bit of their convo.

'It looks like Sayuri's okay and Karu's here so I can rest easy. Anyways they seem to be talking about the old days, it seems I'm not needed here. Man, I can be deep!' He thought and started the trek home, smiling.

Back in Minato's academy days, all he did was go the academy and go home to his gramps for training with his weapon and his blacksmith skills. Though he always did remember at least a bit of Sayuri's brother, he was cool and helped people alot. Minato also thought Karu is awesome at what he does while Minato himself sucks ^^ but it helped his determination and dream to be the best he can be.

Looking up, the red-head could see that the moon was already high up in the sky. Time sure does fly by at times. Sayuri could have sworn that the sun just set a few minutes ago!

"Yeah, you're probably right." the konoichi replied as she stood up from her spot on the grass. "I'm gonna try and beat my dad home tonight, oyasumi!" With that, Sayuri took off jogging down the hill after a slight wave. Luckily, her father was working at the hospital a little later, so she had a chance of getting home before he could. With the sleeve of her shirt torn open and Shugo's orange makeshift bandage sticking out, the area of the wound could easily be seen. The red-head had to hurry up and get home to change.

Karu sat on the hilltop for a little while after Sayuri left staring out into the horizon. "Higa still has my sword, so I can't train." He said scratching his head slightly. "So what can I do..." He said putting his hands in his pockets as he started to walk towards the village.
